Nobel for Indian ?

I just read in Rediff today that three Indian economists are in contention for Nobel prize in economics this year. They are J N Bhagwati, Avinash Dixit and
Partha Dasgupta. This is really heartening news. Let us wait with baited breath until October 13 when the winner will be officially announced. It will really be a shot in the arm for our country passing through inflationary crisis and boost our sagging morale.

That is great news, didn't know about it before. Let's hope one of the Indian economists get it this year.

Pardon my ignorance, but are these gentlemen working in India or are they American citizens of Indian origin.

Mitr: Yes let us hope for it.

Mavin: All three of them are either based in USA or UK :-(

Good news! Let us hope an Indian (by origin) wins the coveted Prize. I have read an article by JN Bhagwati and some of his book reviews but had not heard about the other 2 prospectives. Thanks for also providing the Wikipedia link, Krishnan
