President Obama

I just watched President elect Obama's victory speech in Grant Park, Chicago live on TV. His speech was quite moving and promised better days to come for USA and the world. I earnestly hope he makes good his promise and prove to be a great leader for United States and the rest of the world.

Great that you saw it. Hope to catch up on that later in the day or maybe on youtube! Hope springs eternal in the human breast...

The time for rhetoric is over.

Obama will be judged by initiatives he takes and his performance hereafter.

He is fortunate to have a Congress which is dominated by Democrats. There should be no legislative hurdle to planned reform.

It will take a lot of courage to change things in a country which has highly standardised systems and processes and structures.

But it shows maturity of a nation where in just five decades they have graduated from a divided society to elect a person who is not white to the President's post.

Thanks a lot Gopinath and Mavin for your comments. Yes hope springs eternal. It does not pay to be a pessimist, isn't it ?

Krishnan-

It was a phenomenal victory and a truly historic moment. I just posted my thoughts on it and as you rightly said, we shall hope in all earnest that he makes his promises come true.
